Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Makeup in Saigon
A grand opening is the one event where every photo taken ends up in a press release, a LinkedIn post and the company deck for the next three years. The ribbon gets cut once, usually in the morning, usually under hard light, usually with the regional director who flew in the night before.
This page is for the people running that day: marketing managers, event agencies, PR teams and factory or store opening committees in Ho Chi Minh City and the surrounding industrial parks.
Who actually needs to be ready
Work down the running order, not down the org chart:
- Whoever holds the scissors. Usually two to six people in the ribbon line, often a mix of local leadership and visiting head office.
- Visiting executives. They have come off a flight and into a 7am call time. This is the group that benefits most and asks for it least.
- The MC and any performers. Lion dance, ao dai hostesses, a band.
- The hostess line, if your agency has booked one. A row of eight people photographed together needs one tone, not eight.
- Anyone giving an interview to trade press afterwards. See on-camera makeup for corporate video.
The hard part is the clock, not the makeup
Grand openings start early because of the auspicious hour. A ceremony at 8:08 means the ribbon line has to be ready by 7:30, photographed by 7:45, and in position before the guests arrive.
Allow 90 to 120 minutes per person for a full look, 45 to 60 minutes for a camera-ready grooming pass. For a ribbon line of six starting at 7:30, the team is on site around 5:00.
KINKAY puts up to four makeup artists and two hair stylists on one booking so that stays a single call time rather than a staggered mess. There is no early-start surcharge.
Send the running order and Kay builds the schedule backwards from the ceremony minute, not from the arrival time on the invitation.
Outside the city
Most openings in this market are not in District 1. They are in VSIP, Long Hau, Amata, Bien Hoa, Binh Duong, Long An. KINKAY travels for these. Travel outside Ho Chi Minh City is quoted as one total before you confirm, and nothing is added afterwards.
Build the drive into the schedule and tell Kay the gate procedure. Industrial parks take time at security, and that time is not negotiable on an auspicious-hour morning.

The full list is on the English price list. Service details are on corporate and brand events and events and galas.
What to send when you book
- The date, the ceremony time and the address.
- The running order, or at least the minute the ribbon is cut.
- How many people, split by men and women.
- Dress code, and whether anyone is in ao dai.
- One on-site contact, and the gate or security procedure if it is an industrial park.
Booking and paperwork
A 30% deposit by bank transfer holds the date, and the balance is paid on the day.
Kay works as an independent artist rather than a registered company, so there is no VAT invoice and no receipt. The Booking Confirmation is the document: a reference number, the service, the date and the amount, reissued marked as paid once you have settled. Tell your finance team before you confirm, not on the morning.
Working in English
Kay and the team work in English. Opening days usually mix local staff, visiting head office and an international agency, and nobody wants a translation chain between the schedule and the makeup chair.
Kay has worked backstage at Miss Cosmo International, Miss Grand Vietnam and Hoa Hậu Việt Nam, and on runway shows for Đỗ Long and Adrian Anh Tuấn.
Send the date, the ceremony time and the headcount, and a quote comes back the same day.
