Maternity Photoshoot Makeup in Saigon

A maternity shoot is one of the few photo sessions you plan for yourself, not for a wedding or a work profile. Many couples living in Ho Chi Minh City book one in the last trimester. Visitors sometimes plan one around a trip home or a holiday in Vietnam.

Most guides online point you to studios that bundle everything: dress, makeup, photographer, retouching. That works for some people. But if you already have a photographer you like, or you want to shoot at home, in a park or on the streets of District 1, you need hair and makeup that comes to you. This guide covers how to plan it, what look works in Saigon's climate, and what it costs with KINKAY.

When to book your maternity shoot

Most photographers suggest shooting between 28 and 34 weeks. The bump is clear, and you are usually still comfortable standing and moving for an hour or two. Check with your doctor if you have any concerns.

For hair and makeup, book once you have a date with your photographer. Two to three weeks ahead is enough on a weekday. Weekends in November and December fill faster, because that is also wedding season.

The dry season (November to April) is the best time for outdoor shoots in Saigon. Mornings are bright and the light is soft until about 9:30. Late afternoon, from 4:00 to golden hour, is the other good window.

How long hair and makeup takes

Plan 90 to 120 minutes for makeup and hair together. We build in time for you to sit back, drink water and take a break. Nobody needs to rush in the third trimester.

A simple timeline for a 4:30 pm outdoor shoot:

• 2:00 pm Kay arrives at your home or hotel
• 2:00 to 3:45 pm Skin prep, makeup, hair
• 3:45 to 4:15 pm Get dressed, travel to the location
• 4:30 pm Shoot starts

If you are shooting at home, you can start later and use the light from your windows.

The look: soft, glowing and made for the heat

Maternity photos tend to be soft and natural. The goal is to look like yourself on a very good day, not like you are going to a gala.

What works well in Ho Chi Minh City:

• Skin first. Light, hydrating prep and a thin base. Pregnancy can change your skin, so we adjust products on the day. If your doctor has asked you to avoid anything, tell us when you book and Kay will work around it.
• Long-wear in humidity. Saigon is around 30°C most of the year. We set the face so it holds through an outdoor shoot without looking powdery.
• Natural glow, not shine. A little highlight on the cheekbones photographs beautifully next to a bare bump or a flowing dress.
• Hair with movement. Soft waves or a loose low bun suit maternity gowns and wind. Hair is always included with the makeup.

Bring two or three photos you like. Kay will tell you what works with your face, your outfit and the light at your location.

Shooting in an áo dài

An áo dài maternity shoot is one of the most beautiful ways to remember a pregnancy in Vietnam. The long panels flow over the bump and the colours stand out in the old streets of District 1 or the yellow walls around the Central Post Office.

Partners and children in the photos

Many maternity shoots include a partner, and sometimes an older child. If someone else in the photos wants full makeup and hair, we add them to the same session. Let us know how many people when you message us, and we will confirm the total before you pay anything.

Which option to choose:

• Short shoot, one location, one outfit: makeup and hair from 1,800,000 VND is enough.
• Long shoot, outdoor heat, two or more outfits or locations: having Kay stay through the session keeps your face fresh and lets her change your hair between looks.

How to book

1. Message KINKAY on WhatsApp or use the form on our site. Tell us your date, your due date, the location and your photographer's start time.
2. We reply with a timeline and the total price.
3. You pay the deposit to hold the date. We send a booking confirmation in English.
4. On the day, Kay comes to you.

If you are visiting Saigon only for a few days, we can also do the shoot the same day you land or the day before you fly. Message us early and we will find the best slot.

Frequently asked questions

Do you come to my apartment or hotel? Yes. Kay works on location anywhere in Ho Chi Minh City: your home, hotel, Airbnb or studio.

Can you work with my own photographer? Yes. Most of our maternity clients already have a photographer. Share their start time and location and we plan around it.

What if I feel tired during makeup? Tell us. We stop, you rest, and we continue. The timeline already includes breaks.

Can I do a trial first? A trial is optional and priced separately. Most clients skip it for a photoshoot and share reference photos instead.
